REQUIREMENTS
There are two main requirements for entering the annual DV-Program
1.Applicant must be a native of an eligible country
Applicant must be born in a qualifying country
If the applicant is NOT born in a qualifying country then he/she might still be able to enter the lottery if:
his/her spouse is, then the applicant can claim the spouses' country of birth. Both applicant and spouse must, however, be issued visas and enter the U.S. at the same time.
the applicant claims his/her parent's country of birth and if neither parent was born there and if they did not live in the ineligible country at his/her birth.
The following countries are not eligible to participate in this years' DV-Program
- Canada
- China (mainland-born)
- Colombia
- Dominica Republic
- El Salvador
- Haiti
- India
- Jamaica
- Mexico
- Pakistan
- Philippines
- Poland
- Russia
- South Korea
- United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland )
- Vietnam
2.Education or Work Experience
You must meet one of the two following requirement to qualify for the annual DV-Program
- Scenario 1 : Applicant must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, defined in the United States as successful completion of a 12-year course of elementary and secondary education
or
- Scenario 2 : You must have 2 years of work experience within the past five years in one of the occupations listed here .
Applicant should only apply to the annual DV-Lottery if requirements can be met. Proof of requirements will be necessary if applicant wins the Green Card Lottery |
